Please be Seated’ was my project I had worked on during my fourth and final year studying Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design.

Working with analogue photography, this series focuses on photographing the interiors of specific establishments and finding the commonalities between them. The deadpan, banal and boring are elements I have consciously chosen to capture in order to expose the oxymoronic visuals that such establishments typically show. Absent of any persons, the buildings’ inner structures serve as entities in themselves to be viewed. ‘Please be Seated’ is an invitation to take a moment to become reflective and ask, what do we worship and why? Transferring these objects from spatial fillers to focused models, I question their past and futures.

PLEASE BE SEATED
